Vaser Lipo Transfer
Aging, less than optimal exercise and eating habits can cause excessive and unwanted fat deposits to accumulate around the body. Unfortunately, these fats often gather around the thighs, neck, abdomen, arms, and buttocks, leaving an unappealing appearance. People who have excessive fat on their bodies often have issues with their self-esteem. This may also be due to an alteration in the body’s hormone secretion.
An undesirable appearance will always affect a person’s confidence. While workouts and exercise programs may help shed excess fat, they require commitment and are time-consuming. The only practical, fast and safe alternative for removing excess body fat is through liposuction.
What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves breaking up and sucking fat from the body. Patients ought to understand that liposuction is not an overall weight-loss program. Additionally, using certain supplemental technologies, it may deal with cellulite, stretch marks or dimples.
Body contouring using liposuction is the second most common cosmetic procedure performed in the US today. Acting like a sculptor, one can add fat or fat transfer into some areas of the body (breast, hands, buttocks, and legs) to optimize the body’s appearance.
The VASER Ultrasonic Liposculpture Difference
In the past, the standard suction liposuction technique was the typical procedure used. However, due to advancements in technology, surgeons now use sophisticated techniques such as VASER ultrasonic liposuction. This technique utilizes ultrasound energy to break down excessive fats. It realizes high-definition body sculpturing, delivering complete body transformation. The machine that facilitates this procedure is referred to as a VASER
Dr. Robert Troell from Masterpiece M.D. is one of the six leading instructors in the world teaching on the use of this transformational machine. He has made a name for himself as an astute VASER ultrasonic liposuction surgeon, teaching his peers how to perform the technique with over twenty live surgical CME workshops.
Advantages of VASER Ultrasound Liposuction
- It is extremely safe, with over 100,000 procedures carried out worldwide
- May use only local anesthesia (however, best results with oral and IV sedation or general anesthesia)
- Does not affect nerves and muscles
- May be used in delivering high-definition body sculpturing
- Less intra-operative bleeding (25-30% less bleeding)
- Reduced postoperative bruising
- Rapid recovery time with minimal downtime (1-3 days needing narcotics)
- VASER provides 53% more skin tightening than tumescent liposuction
- Highly effective for fat harvesting and fat grafting (92% fat cell and 97% stem cell survival)
Tumescent liposuction is used with VASER liposuction to optimize results and minimize pain and bruising. Traditional liposuction is often performed under general anesthesia, which may increase some types of complications.
For these reasons, VASER liposuction has surpassed traditional methods in terms of effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
Is Fat Grafting Using VASER Superior?
Low levels of ultrasound or VASER energy may keep the fat cells alive and is quite superior to other methods (Laser liposuction) due to enhanced tissue growth and vascularization upon re-injection into the body. During harvesting, VASER refines fat tissues into small fat cell packets, which support grafting. However, the surgeon must not use too much ultrasound energy which can injury fat and stem cells. The fact that VASER liposuction is less bruising means that less blood is lost during the procedure.
What is VASER® Lipo? How does it differ from traditional liposuction?
VASER Lipo, also known as LipoSelection®, is an advanced body contouring procedure that selectively removes unwanted body fat. An alternative to the harsh techniques of traditional liposuction, VASER Lipo uses state-of-the-art ultrasound technology designed to gently reshape your body. What distinguishes the VASER Lipo procedure is its ability to differentiate targeted fat from other important tissues – such as nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Innovative VASER technology breaks up fat while preserving these other important tissues to promote smooth results and rapid healing.
How does VASER Lipo work?
First, the area to be reshaped is filled with a special saline solution that helps numb the site and shrink the blood vessels (to minimize blood loss and reduce bruising). This solution wets and fills the area to be treated, making it easier to break up fatty tissue with the VASER Lipo System’s ultrasound energy. Then a small probe transmits sound energy (similar to that used for cataract removal from the eye) to break up fatty tissue on contact while preserving other important tissues. Finally, the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimize damage to surrounding tissues.
What body areas can be treated with VASER Lipo?
All body areas can be treated with liposuction. The most common areas are abdomen, thighs, knees, buttocks, hips, back, arms, male and female breasts, love handles, chin, and neck.
How much fat can be taken?
There are limits to how much fatty tissue can be safely taken from the body, however, from a quantity standpoint, it is 4 liters at one setting in California. One way to get a good idea for yourself as to the amount of fat to be removed, one can stand and bend from the waist in front of a mirror when evaluating the stomach and hips. The amount of ‘loose-hanging’ fat you can easily grab above/below your waist will approximate what can be removed. Bear in mind that this procedure is not intended as a weight loss solution. The goal is to create a slimmer silhouette. You may not notice a significant amount of weight loss, but you should be pleased with your slimmer new shape.
Where is VASER Lipo performed?
VASER Lipo is performed in a clean or sterile environment. Dr. Troell has a surgical procedure room in our facility with complete cardiovascular monitoring, intravenous assess and two registered nurses available for assistance as well as medical assistants. Alternative locations include an outpatient surgery center or a hospital. The procedure can be performed under oral sedation with local anesthesia (awake), IV sedation, or general anesthesia.
How soon will I see my results?
This varies with the extensiveness of the procedure—the amount of fat removed, the number of sites treated, and so on. Many patients report that they see results immediately after the procedure with the final result at around 3 to 6 months. It is important that you establish realistic expectations through discussion with your doctor.
What is the recovery time?
Only one patient in the past ten years experienced discomfort after three post-operative days requiring narcotic pain medications. The muscles are sore for about 7-14 days, however, only nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (Aleve, Motrin, Ibuprofen) are needed. The incisions drain fluid for 18-24 hours. A compression garment is recommended for three weeks, instead of 6 weeks like some surgeons recommend. Dr. Troell performed a study revealing no change in outcome with less duration of compression. The main risk of a complication after liposuction is not getting a smooth outcome. It is more likely to achieve a smooth outcome because the ultrasound "melts" the fat and you require less liposuction time during the procedure. The only other complication of any frequency is a small fluid collection of triglycerides and salts from dead fat cells that do not leak out of the incisions or are not absorbed by the body.
What about future weight gain/fat migrating to other areas?
Once the fat is removed it is gone forever. A Brazilian study revealed if a man had abdominal and hip liposuction and weighed the same after surgery, that the fat cells that became more engorged with triglycerides were inside the abdominal cavity. This visceral fat is present in the omentum, which harbors the blood vessels and acts as a blanket to protect the intestines and organs from blunt trauma. Following your VASER Lipo procedure, most patients who experience weight gain after liposuction will observe the fat to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Once you have fat removed, it is gone and, assuming a healthy lifestyle of proper diet and exercise, it will not return or migrate. However, because fat is necessary to a healthy body, some essential fat layers in any given site remain untreated.
