Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser Resurfacing
What choose a CO2 laser for resurfacing?
A CO2 laser is the best treatment for skin resurfacing. The CO2 laser removes the layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results, because it can be administered with great precision of depth depending on your degree of skin sun damage or acne scarring.
The procedure is performed in the spa with only mild discomfort even with high energy levels. The reason the discomfort i minimized is because of the following treatment protocol of topical anesthesia for nearly two hours, some local anesthetic sensory nerve blocks and oral sedation. In a scientific study competed by Dr Troell, the DEKA laser had a 3.8 out of 10 pain compared to the CO2 laser competitors of 8.4 out of ten.
The key is that the amount of energy can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome. The DEKA CO2 laser in a scientific study comparing ten lasers including 7 CO2 and three Fraxel type micro peel lasers, the DEKA was the best for wrinkle treatment and best overall laser.
How does the CO2 laser work?
The Carbon dioxide laser beam is at 10, 600 nm and absorbed by water in our skin. The lasers computer scanned treatment area removes a thin layer of the skin. to include the epidermis and some of the superficial dermis. Removing these skin layers eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant.
Adding Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) an post-treatment skin care with stem cell derived proteins (cytokines) has been shown to optimize results while minimizing the healing time. Most patients have discomfort for only the treatment day (>95%), skin peeling that begins 1-2 days after the treatment and lasts 4-6 days and a pink hue to the skin for 1-2 weeks in most patients.
Within two weeks, the beginning of the rejuvenated results can be seen with optimized collagen synthesis at 2 months and a continued improvement for 6 months.

This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away within next few days to a week following the treatment.
